Women’s Golf In Sixth After Opening Round Of ACC Championship

PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. – The No. 20 NC State women’s golf team shot an opening round score of 297 (+9) on Thursday at the 2017 ACC Championship, held at The Reserve Golf Club in Pawleys Island, S.C.


The Wolfpack sits in sixth place in the team standings after the first round, while Duke leads the field with a four-under 284. Miami is in second with an opening round 285, and Florida State, UNC-Chapel Hill and Clemson all carded a 287 (-1) to sit in a tie for third.


Laura Kowohl paced the squad with a one-over par 73 to sit among the top 20 of the individual leaderboard at T18th. She made the turn at three-over, but carded three birdies on the back nine for a 34 (-2).


Sarah Bae and India Clyburn finished one stroke behind Kowohl, as each posted a 74 to share a tie for 26th.


Leonie Bettel and Naomi Ko each turned in a four-over 76 to round out the Pack’s lineup and share a tie for 38th in the standings.


NC State will continue play Friday at the ACC Championship, and be paired with competitors from Clemson and UNC-CH between 9:40 and 10:20 a.m.The round will be broadcast live on the ACC Network Extra from 2 p.m. through the end of play.
