ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Laura Kowohl of the NC State women’s golf team opened NCAA Regional play on Monday, firing a three-under par 69 to lead the 96-player field at the UNM Championship Course in Albuquerque, N.M.
As a team, the Wolfpack shot 301 (+13) in the opening round to sit in eighth place out of 17. Pepperdine (-1, 287), Stanford (+2, 290) and Southern Cal (+8, 296) round out the top three of the team standings.
Sarah Bae turned in the second lowest round among the squad with 75 (+3) to sit at T30th, and Naomi Ko (78) is three shots behind Bae in T63rd.
India Clyburn and Leonie Bettel rounded out the Pack’s top five with 79 (+7) and 80 to sit at T73rd and T80th, in respective order.
NC State will continue play Tuesday at the NCAA Albuquerque Regional, and will be paired with competitors from Duke and SMU between 9:30 and 10:06 a.m. off hole one. Live scoring will be available on GolfStat.com
