GREENSBORO, N.C. – Florida State’s Dylan Busby has been voted the ACC Baseball Player of the Week, while Clemson’s Alex Eubanks was selected as Pitcher of the Week.
ACC weekly honors are determined by a vote of a select media panel. This is the third career weekly award for Eubanks and second this season, and the first for Busby.
Busby became the first Seminole with three or more RBIs in five straight games, leading Florida State to a series win over No. 4 Clemson and a split with rival Miami. On Monday against the Tigers, Busby’s three-run double gave FSU its first lead. Against Stetson on Wednesday, Busby went 3-for-4 with two home runs and three RBIs. At the Hurricanes on Friday, Busby was 3-for-5 with a 3-run home run and an RBI double in the ninth. His average has jumped to .305, 35 points higher than when the Clemson series started April 15. The junior third baseman was 8-for-18 in the five games during the week, with 10 runs driven in, two doubles, and three home runs.
Against No. 18 Wake Forest, one of the nation’s top offenses, Eubanks tossed a seven-hit shutout with a career-high 12 strikeouts against no walks to earn the win in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday. He threw 116 pitches and did not allow a baserunner past first base until the eighth inning. It was his second ACC shutout in 2017 (at Boston College on March 25). On the year, he is 6-3 with a 3.36 ERA, .239 opponents’ batting average and 67 strikeouts against nine walks in 64.1 innings pitched over 10 starts.
